Your new sunroom is built to last, but like any part of your home, a little regular maintenance goes a long way. The good news? Sunrooms are actually easier to maintain than most people think. Here's your seasonal guide to keeping everything in perfect condition.

Spring Cleaning (March-May)
Start with the windows – they're the stars of your sunroom. Use a squeegee and mild soap solution for streak-free results. Don't forget the screens; a soft brush and garden hose work wonders.

Check the caulking around windows and doors. Small gaps now can become big problems later. Touch up any areas that look cracked or pulled away.

Inspect your roof panels (if you have a glass or polycarbonate roof) for any debris buildup. A soft brush on an extension pole can clear away leaves and branches safely.

Summer Maintenance (June-August)
This is when you're using your sunroom most, so focus on comfort. Clean or replace HVAC filters to keep air circulation optimal.

Check door and window hardware. The constant opening and closing during nice weather can loosen screws and hinges. A quick tightening session keeps everything operating smoothly.

If you have ceiling fans, give the blades a good dusting. You'd be surprised how much dust they collect when running regularly.

Fall Prep (September-November)
Time to prepare for the weather ahead. Check weatherstripping around doors and windows. Replace any that's compressed or torn.

Clean gutters and downspouts if your sunroom ties into your home's drainage system. Clogged gutters can cause water damage to both your sunroom and main house.

Remove any outdoor furniture or plants that might blow around in winter storms.

Winter Care (December-February)
Keep snow load reasonable on glass roofs by gently brushing off heavy accumulations. Never use sharp tools or try to break ice.

Run ceiling fans occasionally (on low, clockwise) to circulate warm air and prevent condensation buildup.

Check for ice dams around the connection between your sunroom and main house. If you notice them forming, call us – it's usually a simple insulation adjustment.

The One Thing That Makes the Biggest Difference
Honestly? Just using your sunroom regularly. When you're in there enjoying your coffee or reading, you naturally notice small issues before they become big problems. The sunrooms that stay in the best condition are the ones that become part of the family's daily routine.
